Thanks to everyon that chimed in on this discussion:). Thanks everyone. I do have a backup using Symantec System Restore 2011.

I can recover the EDB file separately no problem and copy it to a spare drive, but when it comes to Granular Recovery, its been 3 hours and it still on step 2. I did a search, and a few people have had the same issue. Programs For U3 Smart Drive Updates.

It involves having the backup on a NAS and a large database file.:/ Anyhow, since then I have cancelled the Granular restore option, and will just recover the EDB file separately to a spare drive. I was testing a software called EDBMails and it seems to work fine and is free. I'll keep everyone updated. Thanks again! Thanks to everyon that chimed in on this discussion:). Sorry but where does it say you need to upload company data to convert the.edb to the.pst file using edbmails? If this is really so, i would rather not use it of course but i imagine it a bit lenghier than just a few hours to upload a 250gb edb file for example.:) I have the same scenario here, old edb file that i need some mailbox from, don't wanna go through the lengthy process of RSG mounting etc.

Or spend insane money for a third party tool. I have downloaded but not tested edbmails so if there are more experiences to be shared i would be happy to hear them.

I am doing some work for a client who is on the fringe of going out of business, in fact I am offering my services for free. They have an Exchange 2000 priv1.edb file I have been able to repair and successfully mount with Enstella but the $299 is not even a remote option. This edb file contains a few weeks of lost mail they would like to get. Is there a freeware comparable tool out there or some other method of getting to this data? I'd like to avoid having to replicate their Exchange environment just to get at a few weeks of lost mail. No there is nothing for free and while I understand that 299 seems like allot its a rather low cost tool and is good for going after an email or two but not so great if you want accuracy and completeness.
